It’s a new year and it’s a new chance to plan out a fun year of travel. If you go on social media, you can see a lot of people enjoying a lot of different locales. What would a meaningful year of travel look like for you?
I’m in the process of planning out my trips (and trips for clients) and I’ve noticed that family trips and multi-generational travel are a big trend. (Maybe it’s a good time to round up the fam- maybe even the homies- for a cruise…or a roadtrip…or a safari in Kenya (the possibilities are endless.)
This got me thinking: What are some other potential trends for this year’s travel?
Boutique Accommodations:
Instead of crowded five-star resorts , travelers might choose secluded wellness resorts, boutique hotels with personalized service, private villas with concierge support, or small-ship cruises and river cruises.
Off-peak travel:
On the subject of seclusion and less crowded experiences, many more travelers might choose to travel during shoulder seasons. It definitely saves money (on airfare, excursions, and accommodations) and allows for more breathing room when exploring. This actually isn’t a new trend but I always bring it up. Case in point.
Experience travel:
(This is one I’m excited to do more often.) A travel trend in 2026 will likely be culinary experiences, food tours, cultural immersion, workshops, wellness, nature-based adventures. I had a client who did a cultural immersion activity in Beijing last year and absolutely loved it. Experience travel really brings another layer of excitement and connection to the sightseeing experience, beyond just visiting high-traffic landmarks.
Those are my predictions for 2026. What do you think? Have fun planning out your year of travel and if you need any help, click here.
