5 Unique Restaurant Experiences

I saw a TikTok video the other day about the rise of artificial intelligence in the restaurant business. The videos didn’t necessarily inspire confidence in these robot chefs, several of the machines were using their kitchen supplies to hit things and one was rhythmically slamming its pelvis into the counter instead of cooking. Although these robots aren’t going to be on Top Chef any time soon, it made me wonder about unique restaurant experiences.

I’ve never had a robot chef, but my husband and I once went to a restaurant where the order was taken by humans and the food was brought out by robots. It was a neat experience and interesting to find out how these robot waiters work. They use sensors, cameras, and laser mapping to see the room. Staff put food on the robot and when the customer receives the food, they send it back. I wouldn’t say it’s more efficient than having human waitstaff, but it was an experience.

If you’re looking for more than food at your next restaurant visit, check out these unique experiences:

Treepod Dining (Koh Kood, Thailand)

If you’ve ever dreamed of dining above the trees, this is the restaurant for you. At this restaurant, you sit in pods 36 feet up in the rainforest canopy. The waitstaff zips around (literally) on ziplines. Talk about an elevated experience!

    Train Street Cafes (Hanoi, Vietnam)

If you like living dangerously, you might enjoy eating at one of the cafes along Train Street. These restaurants are situated very verrrry close to the train tracks and you can feel the breeze as the trains whip by, inches away from where you’re sitting.

    Dinner in the Sky (Dubai)

With this restaurant experience, you sit around 164 feet up in the sky as you enjoy your meal. For about 90 minutes, you will enjoy a bird’s eye view of your surroundings while you eat.

    Grotta Palazzese (Italy)

Channel your inner Ariel (or Ursula) when you dine in this sea cave restaurant. This restaurant sits in a limestone cave near the Adriatic sea and many say that the visuals alone are worth the price tag.

    The Rock Restaurant (Zanzibar)

This restaurant is very aptly named as it sits on a rock in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Zanzibar. If it’s low tide, you can walk across the sand to the restaurant and if it’s high tide, your meal is just a short boat ride away.

Looking for a little pizazz with your dinner? Why not give one of these 5 restaurants a try? Bon appetit!
